Civil War Symposium at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library

August 17 @ 8:30 am 4:30 pm

Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area, the Civil War Roundtable of Kansas City, and the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum are co-sponsoring a Civil War Symposium.

The symposium will be held at the newly renovated Harry S. Truman Library and Museum. Free admission to the museum is included with the symposium registration fee.

Sessions presented by noted historians from both sides of the Missouri-Kansas border will examine topics such as women on the border, slavery in Missouri, Bleeding Kansas, the occupation in Civil War Missouri, guerrillas as combatants, and Order No. 11.

Sponsors encourage participants to gain a better understanding of the events of the late 1850s and early 1860s that shaped our region and influenced national history.

Tickets must be purchased on the event website.
