BBC News recently published an article about the objects taken by the British in 1814 during the War of 1812. It was 200 years ago this week that the British left much of Washington DC in flames.
Some of the items looted were four paintings of King George III and Queen Charlotte, a grandfather clock and James Madison’s personal government receipt book.
